Nyuh Kuning and good to know
The house sits in the north corner of Nyuh Kuning, right against the Monkey Forest. It is quiet in a way central Ubud rarely is, and still close to everything on foot.
Within walking distance
- Yoga: Yoga Barn, Ubud Yoga Studio and IN Movement, about 15 minutes
- Bali Bohemia: good food and an open-mic night on Thursdays, about 5 minutes
- Baths and saunas: about 10 minutes
- Wellness: an Ayurvedic centre and the Bumi Sehat birth centre are in the village
- Sunset: the field down the road, every evening
- Food: pizza, Mediterranean, Japanese, smoothie bowls and Balinese warungs nearby, including our own Chai of the Tiger for Indian street food
The wildlife
Long-tailed macaques from the Monkey Forest pass the house every day, mostly in the early morning and at dusk. They leave you alone unless you carry food or try to touch them. Around the house you may also see Javan kingfishers, monitor lizards, squirrels, geckos, frogs, fireflies and, if you are lucky, a luwak. They are all shy of people.
Good to know before you book
- Can a car reach the house?
- The nearest car access is about 200 metres away, and the last stretch is a footpath you can also ride a scooter along. We send you directions after booking. Keep this in mind if walking is difficult for anyone in your group.
- Is there parking?
- Yes. Park scooters in the garage next to the house. Left outside, the monkeys will chew the seats. Mita can help you arrange a scooter rental.
- Monkeys and windows
- Please keep windows and doors closed when you are not in the room. The monkeys will come in if they can. A stick or umbrella is enough to scare them off.
- Drinking water
- Tap water is filtered well water: fine for brushing your teeth, not for drinking. Drinking water is provided in both stays.
- Cleaning and laundry
- The rooms are cleaned Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Laundry can be arranged for a small charge.
- Check-in and check-out
- Check-in is after 2:00 PM, self check-in with a lockbox. Check-out is before 12:00 PM. Each stay takes up to 2 guests.
- House rules
- No parties or events, no smoking indoors, no unregistered overnight guests, and quiet after 10 PM.
